the workshop

We specialise in collaborative printmaking, where artists work together with a Master Printer to realise their ideas. The beauty of this kind of arrangement is that the artist is freed to focus entirely on the creative aspect of the project, while the printer handles the technical considerations, processing, and printing of the editions.

Artists find that collaboration in this way allows them to experiment with new techniques and to push the boundaries of their image-making process, resulting in work of the highest calibre.

Facilities

Below is a list of the equipment we currently have available. In the near future we plan on adding facilities for intaglio and relief to the shop.

Lithography:

Stones up to 60 cm x 80 cm (23 1/2" x 31 1/2")
Ball-grained aluminium litho plates up to 91 cm x 130 cm (36" x 51")
Positive-working photolitho plates up to 91 cm x 132 cm (36" x 52")

Monotypes up to 95 cm x 150 cm (37" x 59")

Traditional Bookbinding (various techniques)

Video and Sound filming/editing equipment and software for multi-media and print installation projects

We also offer artists graphic and web design services for projects requiring additional printed material and/or internet-based components.

There are a number of ways artists can work with the Master Printers:

Monotypes: For artists wanting to make unique, single prints (not editioned) with a spontaneous, painterly quality. Monotype sessions can be booked for half days, full days or multiple days.

Contract Projects: Artists or galleries may also contract us to print editions or produce multi-media print installations for them. In this scenario the artist or gallery pays the costs of production (materials, proofing and editioning) and then owns the entire edition, which they may then sell as they wish. This option may be of interest to galleries wishing to have editions printed with the artists which they represent.

Publishing: We invite artists to collaborate with a printer for one or two weeks, to produce an edition, a series of editions or a multi-media print installation. All costs are covered by us. We are also responsible for selling the prints and once production costs are recovered, all further profits from sales are split with the artist.

Submissions are welcome from artists wishing to do a published project. Send a CD with images, CV, artist statement and a project outline to: Paul-Lincke-Ufer 33, 3.HH, 12045 Berlin, Germany.
